The viewer should experience art without having to ask whether it is or is not acceptable. It should be above all else a pleasurable, yet dramatically emotional one. I want to create an environment with the canvas where the viewer can be intimately drawn into my world. It could be the beginning of a fantasy, a meditation on form, light or color. The mystery is what creates the excitement. I want to capture the soul of the viewer for one moment”, explains Kennedy about her work. A native of North Carolina, she graduated from Ohio State University in 1984. Being primarily self-taught, she feels her real growth developed with the decision to make art a full time commitment.
